brothers. In 1963 the author moved to Paris, France to study
French and work in the fashion industry. In late 1965 the
author moved to New York where, about four years later,

of a local private college in Pasadena, California - teaching

The Economic Role of Space - Howard Bloom, a Visiting
Scholar at New York University, is founder of the International
Paleopsychology Project, executive editor of the New Paradigm
book series, a founding board member of the Epic of Evolution
Society, and a member of the New York Academy of Sciences,
the National Association for the Advancement of Science,
the American Psychological Society, the Human Behavior and
Evolution Society, The International Society of Human Ethology,
and the Academy of Political Science. He has been featured

since the publication's inception. Bloom has taken an unusual
approach to the study of mass moods and cultural convolutions.
He started out normally enough, building his first Boolean
algebra machine at the age of twelve, becoming a dedicated
microscopist that same year, codesigning a computer which
won a Westinghouse Science Award before he left grade school,
and being granted a private brainstorming session with the
head of the Graduate Physics Department of The State University
of New York, Buffalo, at the age of thirteen. By sixteen
he was a lab assistant at the world's largest cancer research
center, the Roswell Park Memorial Research Cancer Institute,
where he helped plumb the mysteries of the immune system.
And before his freshman year of college he designed and
executed research in Skinnerian programmed learning at Rutgers

and Phi Beta Kappa from New York University, Bloom turned
down four graduate fellowships and embarked on a 20-year-long
urban anthropology expedition to penetrate what he calls

which won two National Academy of Poets prizes, founded
the leading avant-garde art studio on the East Coast, was

editor of a rock magazine. Using correlational studies,
focus groups, empirical surveys, ethnographic expeditions
into suburban teen subcultures, and other scientific techniques,
Bloom more than doubled the publication's sales, and was
credited by Rolling Stones' Chet Flippo with having founded
a new genre--the heavy metal magazine. Seeking still further
ways to infiltrate modernity's mass mind, Bloom formed a
public relations firm in the music and film industry and
won the confidence of those whose territory he'd invaded.
The payoff in knowledge proved invaluable. Bloom worked
with Michael Jackson, Prince, John Cougar Mellencamp, Kiss,
Queen, Bette Midler, Billy Joel, Joan Jett, Diana Ross,
Simon & Garfunkel, The Talking Heads, AC/DC, Billy Idol,
Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Run D.M.C., Simply
Red, and the heads of many a media conglomerate. He was
adept at spotting new subcultures, entering them, and helping
their members achieve their goals…a skill which gave

Cryptozoologist -Richard Freeman (born Nuneaton,
England, in 1970) is a cryptozoologist, author, zoological
journalist, and WebTV Presenter. He is also Zoological Director
of the Centre for Fortean Zoology (CFZ), and co-edits both
the journal, Animals & Men and several editions of the
annual CFZ Yearbook. Richard Freeman has written, co-written,
or edited a number of books, and has contributed widely
to both Fortean and zoological magazines, as well as other
newspapers and periodicals, including Fortean Times and
Paranormal Magazine. He has also lectured across the UK
at events such as the Fortean Times Unconvention, the Weird
Weekend, Microcon and at museums such as the Natural History
Museum and the Grant Museum of Natural History in London.
When interviewed by author Nick Redfern in 2005, Freeman
claimed an early obsession with the classic science fiction
series Dr Who (with Jon Pertwee) had sparked an interest
in all things weird. After school he became a zookeeper
at Twycross Zoo in the West Midlands and became head keeper
of reptiles, working with more than 400 exotic species from
ants to elephants (but with a special interest in crocodilians).
After leaving the zoo, he worked in an exotic pet shop,
a reptile rescue centre, and as a gravedigger. In 1995,
Freeman began studying zoology at Leeds University. Whilst
on holiday from the university, he learned of the CFZ and
bought a copy of the Centre's journal Animals & Men,
which left him impressed enough to subscribe and begin contributing.

however, will not give us a complete picture of the ancient
world. But when combined with the study of mythology, folklore

oneself off from a technology-obsessed 21st century mindset,

could somehow project ourselves back into antiquity, one
suspects that the magic and mystery which was undoubtedly
a part of the everyday lives of many of these ancient civilizations
would remain elusive. It is often said by 'alternative'
historians that bringing a particularly controversial ancient
site or artifact to the attention of the world will 'turn
conventional wisdom on its head'. 'Conventional' archaeologists
('conventional' presumably meaning those who have studied
and qualified as archaeologists) are criticized for not
being open-minded enough to accept new theories and ideas.
But, generally this is not the case, witness the (often
heated) discussions surrounding genuinely challenging archaeological
puzzles such as the extraordinary Turkish site of Göbekli
Tepe, the enigmatic 'Venus' figurines of the last Ice Age,
the abandonment of Mesa Verde, or the volcanic eruption
which destroyed the Mediterranean island of Thera. Spurious
'ancient' artifacts or sites (such as the Oak Island Treasure
or The Dendera Lamps) are anything but a challenge to 'conventional'
archaeology. The furore surrounding these subjects on the
web and in various print publications is the result of speculation
based on the preconceived agenda of the writer, and as such
has no place in history or archaeology. It is this distinction
between genuine and bogus ancient mysteries that History's
Mysteries attempts to clarify. Sometimes a few hours research
and a generous helping of critical thinking can dispense

in the San Francisco Bay Area in the near future. The Loma
Prieta earthquake occurred on October 17, just before the
start of the third game of the Series. Berkland claims that
government officials told him not to make any more predictions,
fearing mass panic, and he was suspended for two months
from his Santa Clara County geology position in late October,
1989. Berkland predicted an earthquake for January 9-14,
2009. Interviewed on Fox News in March 2011, Berkland predicted
an earthquake for some time between March 19 and March 26,
2011. He cited as factors the highest tides in 18 years
and the proximity of the moon, suggesting that the quake
will most likely strike on Saturday, March 19, 2011. Berkland
has issued over 50 publications in geology. He is a member
of the Association of Engineering Geologists, the Peninsula

who defeated him for the Liberal Party leadership in 1968.
The following year, after achieving the rank of senior minister,
which was later designated Deputy Prime Minister, Hellyer
resigned from the Trudeau cabinet on a question of principle
related to housing. Although Hellyer is best known for the
unification of the Canadian Armed Forces and for his 1968
chairmanship of the Task Force on Housing and Urban Development,
he has maintained a life-long interest in macroeconomics.

worked for the British government for 21 years, at the Ministry
of Defense. In the course of his career, he served in a
number of different posts, but is best known for work that
he did between 1991 and 1994, when he was posted to a division
where his duties included investigating reports of UFOs.
The purpose of these investigations was to see whether anything
reported might pose any threat to the defense of the UK,
or suggest the existence of anything that might be of more
general defense interest. Most sightings turned out to be
misidentifications of ordinary objects or phenomena, but
a small percentage remained unexplained. Contrary to popular
belief, there was no definitive evidence that any of these
sightings were extraterrestrial in origin. However, the

whatever the nature of the sightings that remained unexplained,

The Mitreya - Scottish-born professional artist who
paints images of an inner reality perceived through meditation
and claims to be a herald of "the reappearance of the
Christ" at the end of the twentieth century. Born in
Glasgow in 1922, early in his life Creme became attracted
to theosophical literature, especially the writings of Alice
A. Bailey. In the 1950s he also joined the Aetherius Society,
an occult-oriented flying saucer contact group founded by
George King, in which he learned a form of meditation called
"transmission" meditation. Throughout the 1950s
Creme was in direct contact with the Great White Brotherhood,
the assembly of beings believed by Theosophists to guide
the destiny of humankind. Creme claimed that in 1959 he
