The Economic Role of Space - Howard Bloom, a Visiting
Scholar at New York University, is founder of the International
Paleopsychology Project, executive editor of the New Paradigm
book series, a founding board member of the Epic of Evolution
Society, and a member of the New York Academy of Sciences, the
National Association for the Advancement of Science, the American
Psychological Society, the Human Behavior and Evolution Society,
The International Society of Human Ethology, and the Academy
of Political Science. He has been featured in every edition
of Who's Who in Science and Engineering since the publication's
inception. Bloom has taken an unusual approach to the study
of mass moods and cultural convolutions. He started out normally
enough, building his first Boolean algebra machine at the age
of twelve, becoming a dedicated microscopist that same year,

before he left grade school, and being granted a private brainstorming
session with the head of the Graduate Physics Department of
The State University of New York, Buffalo, at the age of thirteen.

research center, the Roswell Park Memorial Research Cancer Institute,
where he helped plumb the mysteries of the immune system. And
before his freshman year of college he designed and executed
research in Skinnerian programmed learning at Rutgers University's

York University, Bloom turned down four graduate fellowships
and embarked on a 20-year-long urban anthropology expedition

magazine. Using correlational studies, focus groups, empirical
surveys, ethnographic expeditions into suburban teen subcultures,
and other scientific techniques, Bloom more than doubled the
publication's sales, and was credited by Rolling Stones' Chet
Flippo with having founded a new genre--the heavy metal magazine.
Seeking still further ways to infiltrate modernity's mass mind,
Bloom formed a public relations firm in the music and film industry
and won the confidence of those whose territory he'd invaded.

Cryptozoologist - Richard Freeman (born Nuneaton, England,
in 1970) is a cryptozoologist, author, zoological journalist,
and WebTV Presenter. He is also Zoological Director of the Centre
for Fortean Zoology (CFZ), and co-edits both the journal, Animals
& Men and several editions of the annual CFZ Yearbook. Richard
Freeman has written, co-written, or edited a number of books,
and has contributed widely to both Fortean and zoological magazines,
as well as other newspapers and periodicals, including Fortean
Times and Paranormal Magazine. He has also lectured across the
UK at events such as the Fortean Times Unconvention, the Weird
Weekend, Microcon and at museums such as the Natural History
Museum and the Grant Museum of Natural History in London. When
interviewed by author Nick Redfern in 2005, Freeman claimed
an early obsession with the classic science fiction series Dr
Who (with Jon Pertwee) had sparked an interest in all things
weird. After school he became a zookeeper at Twycross Zoo in

with the ancient Phoenicians who once had colonies in those
areas. Ongoing study, conservation, and sampling of The Uluburun
Shipwreck, the remains of a 3,300 year old ship and its extraordinary
cargo from the coast of southern Turkey, is discovering fascinating
connections between ancient Canaan, Egypt, Mycenaean Greece,
Italy and even the Baltic Sea area of Northern Europe. Science
alone, however, will not give us a complete picture of the ancient
world. But when combined with the study of mythology, folklore
and sometimes simply a sharp change of viewpoint when looking
back at the ancient world, science can be extremely enlightening.
Indeed, it is surprising what can be accomplished by turning
oneself off from a technology-obsessed 21st century mindset,
for example in terms of understanding what the priorities may
have been for the inhabitants of Nabta Play in the Egyptian
desert 11,000 years ago, or the builders of Tenochtitlan in
Mexico, around 700 years ago. Nevertheless, even if we could
somehow project ourselves back into antiquity, one suspects
that the magic and mystery which was undoubtedly a part of the
everyday lives of many of these ancient civilizations would
remain elusive. It is often said by 'alternative' historians
that bringing a particularly controversial ancient site or artifact
to the attention of the world will 'turn conventional wisdom
on its head'. 'Conventional' archaeologists ('conventional'
presumably meaning those who have studied and qualified as archaeologists)
are criticized for not being open-minded enough to accept new
theories and ideas. But, generally this is not the case, witness
the (often heated) discussions surrounding genuinely challenging
archaeological puzzles such as the extraordinary Turkish site
of Göbekli Tepe, the enigmatic 'Venus' figurines of the
last Ice Age, the abandonment of Mesa Verde, or the volcanic
eruption which destroyed the Mediterranean island of Thera.
Spurious 'ancient' artifacts or sites (such as the Oak Island
Treasure or The Dendera Lamps) are anything but a challenge
to 'conventional' archaeology. The furore surrounding these
subjects on the web and in various print publications is the
result of speculation based on the preconceived agenda of the
writer, and as such has no place in history or archaeology.
It is this distinction between genuine and bogus ancient mysteries
that History's Mysteries attempts to clarify. Sometimes a few
hours research and a generous helping of critical thinking can
dispense with anything in the second category. In writing History's
Mysteries Haughton has not attempted to justify personal prejudices
regarding the enigmas of the ancient world. Rather he has been
guided by the facts, even if, in the end, they can sometimes

Crop Circle Secrets has led the way in helping the public make

to another Reserve Army unit that was deploying to Iraq in the
fall of 2004. Major Granger served 14 months of active duty
on his third deployment and served in Baghdad, Abu Ghraib, Camp
Bucca, and Ashraf, Iraq, as Medical Service officer for military
detention facility operations. He is married and is the father
of five children, and lives on Long Island, New York. He is
also the author of "Theodore," a personal narrative
published in the 2006 Random House wartime anthology "Operation
Homecoming: Iraq, Afghanistan and the Home Front in the Words
of U.S. Troops and Their Families," where he wrote about
his fear and anxiety over having left his family in 2002, and
